Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

The Boeing Company

Approved: July 17, 2014 | Expires: May 31, 2018

The Boeing Company ("Boeing") provides aviation security services for Boeing’s commercial aircraft deliveries destined to U.S. sterile terminals under a Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”)-approved Boeing Security Program (“BSP”) (the "Technology"). The Technology consists of: personnel screening and training; passenger and cargo screening processes, equipment, materials, software and data; and subscription services.


General Growth Properties, Inc. (“GGP”)

Approved: July 11, 2014 | Expires: July 31, 2019

General Growth Properties, Inc. (“GGP”) provides Shopping Mall Security Management Services to Shopping Mall common areas, as well as the Shopping Mall outside perimeter and on-site parking locations (the “Technology”). The Technology is a centralized corporate program designed to: (1) identify and promulgate security practices inclusive of anti-terrorism capabilities across GGP’s properties, (2) track and enforce compliance with those measures, and (3) develop and implement a program for responding to emergencies at GGP’s properties. The Technology also includes the use of GGP’s proprietary software programs and selection and placement of appropriate security equipment.


Howe & Howe Technologies, Inc.

Approved: June 30, 2014 | Expires: July 31, 2017

Howe & Howe Technologies, Inc. provides RS1-RBS1 Robotic Ballistic Shield (“SWAT BOT” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a mid-sized robot designed for Special Weapons and Tactics/Special Emergency Response Team operations.


Michael Stapleton Associates, Ltd.

Approved: June 23, 2014 | Expires: June 30, 2019

Michael Stapleton Associates, Ltd. provides Explosive Detection Canine Teams and SmartTech Explosive Detection System (the “Technology”). The Technology also includes the recruitment, hiring, and training of the employees providing these services. The Explosive Detection Canine Teams component of the Technology has received SAFETY Act Designation and Certification. The SmartTech component of the Technology is a system that allows for the transmission of X-ray images to a remotely located bomb technician who provides immediate safety advice for the X-ray machine operator; this component of the Technology has received SAFETY Act Designation.


24/7 Software, Inc.

Approved: June 10, 2014 | Expires: June 30, 2019

24/7 Software, Inc. provides 24/7 Software Platform (the "Technology"). The Technology is a web-based system designed to enhance the situational awareness, safety, and security at sporting and entertainment events. The system is a means to digitally record, communicate, monitor, and analyze incidents occurring during events at sports and entertainment venues.


Traffic International Corp.

Approved: June 06, 2014 | Expires: July 31, 2019

Traffic International Corp. provides a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (the "Technology"). The Technology is a Certified Cargo Screening Facility, designed to aid in meeting the congressional mandate that 100 percent of cargo placed on passenger airplanes be screened. The Technology includes, and provides, screeners and programmatic personnel for the screening of cargo in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”)’s Certified Cargo Screening Program at TSA-approved Certified Cargo Screening Facilities.


Jackson Hole Airport Board

Approved: June 06, 2014 | Expires: June 30, 2019

Jackson Hole Airport Board provides Airport Passenger and Baggage Security Screening at the Jackson Hole Airport (the "Technology"). The Technology consists of trained and certified personnel who conduct passenger, airport employee, and baggage screening in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration ("TSA") guidelines and standard operating procedures.


Midnite Air Corp. d/b/a Midnite Express

Midnite Air Corp. d/b/a Midnite Express provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities (the "Technology"). The Technology is Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, designed to aid in meeting the congressional mandate that 100 percent of cargo placed on passenger airplanes be screened. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provides World Trade Center Campus Security Assessment, Design, Architectural and Engineering Services (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of security risk assessments, and design and architectural/engineering services, used to incorporate security-related design features into building designs for the World Trade Center (“WTC”) Site as a part of the redevelopment of the WTC Site in New York City.
