Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC

Approved: December 11, 2014 | Expires: January 31, 2017

Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC provides Management and Operations Services for the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (the “Technology”). The Technology is science–to-operations services for the Federally Funded Research and Development Center designed for biological threat characterization, forensic analysis, and scientific, technical, and program support.


The Boeing Company

Approved: December 10, 2014 | Expires: January 31, 2020

The Boeing Company provides Tier 3 Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is the provision of services for the securing of cargo from importers who exceed the Tier 3 minimum security requirements promulgated by Customs and Border Protections’ Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Program. The Technology includes the implementation of policies, procedures, training, and a risk management framework to secure the goods of the supply chain being imported into the United States.


CBRE Group, Inc.

Approved: December 10, 2014 | Expires: August 31, 2018

CBRE Group, Inc. provides Willis Tower Security and Life Safety Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is security and life safety services provided to the Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois. The Technology comprises a security management program designed to plan for and respond to emergencies, control access to, screen packages and parcels entering, and provide for the evacuation of Willis Tower. Components of the Technology include physical security, security plans and procedures, emergency response, training and coordination with Federal, State, and local law enforcement. The Technology also includes security training for tenants and security personnel, coordination with Federal, State, and local law enforcement, and other documentation.


Smiths Detection, Inc.

Approved: December 09, 2014 | Expires: January 31, 2020

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides FirstView and FirstView-LINX (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of Web-based sensor management software systems that can offer real-time monitoring of Seller and third-party hardware. The Technology also includes engineering of networks, system installation, software development, training, and maintenance.


BOS Security, Inc.

Approved: December 09, 2014 | Expires: January 31, 2020

BOS Security, Inc. provides Airport Passenger and Baggage Security Screening (a/k/a Screening Partnership Program Services) (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of trained and certified personnel who conduct passenger, airport employee, and baggage screening in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”) guidelines and standard operating procedures.


Covenant Aviation Security, LLC

Approved: November 21, 2014 | Expires: December 31, 2019

Covenant Aviation Security, LLC provides Private Screening Services (a/k/a Screening Partnership Program Services) (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of trained and certified personnel who conduct passenger, airport employee, and baggage screening in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”) guidelines and standard operating procedures.


The Mizel Museum dba The Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (“The C.E.L.L.”)

Approved: November 18, 2014 | Expires: November 30, 2019

The Mizel Museum doing business as The Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (“The C.E.L.L.”) provides the Community Awareness Program™ (“CAP™” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a classroom-based terrorism awareness training course for first responders, members of the public, and sports venues and events. The Technology also includes worksheets, guides, handouts, videos, and testing materials.


Beacon Capital Partners, LLC

Approved: November 07, 2014 | Expires: November 30, 2019

Beacon Capital Partners, LLC (the “Seller”), provides Emergency Oversight Procedures (the “Technology”). The Technology is a centralized corporate management program encompassing emergency response planning, business continuity planning, and emergency management procedures. The Technology is provided internally at the Seller’s commercial real estate holdings in the United States to mitigate the impact of terrorist attacks on tenant safety and business operations at its properties.


The Boeing Company

Approved: November 07, 2014 | Expires: November 30, 2019

The Boeing Company provides the Twister Data Framework (the “Technology). The Technology is a framework for processing, exploiting, and disseminating big data, enabling intelligence and analysis organizations to access massive amounts of data on-demand and in real-time, while leaving the data in its original source repository. Typical extract, transform, load (“ETL”) processes employ bulk extraction and loading. The benefit of the Technology over other ETL tools is that its framework allows analysts to rapidly access metadata with increased quality, speed, versatility, and reliability.


Rapiscan Systems, Inc.

Approved: November 07, 2014 | Expires: November 30, 2019

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Radiation Monitors (the “Technology”). The Technology is a series of detection devices designed to detect the presence of radioactive material. The devices are designed to acquire and analyze data and produce alarms in the event certain conditions are met. The Technology also includes installation, maintenance, and training services; and operator and technical manuals.
