Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation

Approved: June 11, 2013 | Expires: June 30, 2018

L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation provide the eXaminer System (the "Technology"). The Technology is a computed tomography-based explosives detection system that mediates the screening of checked airline baggage and parcels for explosives as well as other threat materials. The Technology also includes associated technical manuals and maintenance performed by L-3 trained personnel.


Selective Site Accessories, Inc.

Approved: June 05, 2013 | Expires: June 30, 2018

Selective Site Accessories, Inc. provides SpiNut. The Technology is a matching locking bolt and socket set designed to protect structural bolts on large structures such as electrical transmission towers, cellular towers, and other critical infrastructure.


American Royal Shipping Line

Approved: May 31, 2013 | Expires: June 30, 2018

A. Royal Shipping Line, Inc., d/b/a American Royal Shipping Line provides a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (the "Technology"). The Technology is a Certified Cargo Screening Facility, designed to aid in meeting the congressional mandate that 100 percent of cargo placed on passenger airplanes be screened. The Technology includes, and provides, screeners and programmatic personnel for the screening of cargo in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration’s (“TSA’s”) Certified Cargo Screening Program at TSA-approved Certified Cargo Screening Facilities.


Robinson Holding Company

Robinson Holding Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., provides a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (the "Technology"). The Technology is a Certified Cargo Screening Facility, designed to aid in meeting the congressional mandate that 100 percent of cargo placed on passenger airplanes be screened. The Technology includes, and provides, screeners and programmatic personnel for the screening of cargo in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration’s (“TSA’s”) Certified Cargo Screening Program at TSA-approved Certified Cargo Screening Facilities.


New York Stock Exchange - Euronext

Approved: May 15, 2013 | Expires: May 31, 2018

The New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”) Euronext provides the United States Liquidity Center (“USLC”). The Technology is a layered physical security system comprised of physical security, alarm systems, integrated closed-circuit television systems for surveillance, canine explosive teams, and security officers to protect the USLC 24 hours per day, year-around. The Technology also includes policies, procedures, training, quality control, and management oversight programs.


Building Protection Systems, Inc.

Approved: May 15, 2013 | Expires: May 31, 2018

Building Protection Systems, Inc. (“BPSI”) provides BPSI Sentry One Products. The Technology integrates third-party chemical and radiological sensors, which have been modified according to BPSI’s specifications and standards, into customized Chemical Sensor Arrays (“CSAs”) and Radiation Area Detectors (“RADs”), respectively. Also, signals from the sensors are interfaced with an existing Building Management System via coupling of the CSAs and RADs to a main control panel. The sensors are incorporated into a building’s air ducts to allow for the monitoring and detection of airborne toxic industrial chemicals and radiological agents. In the presence of such threat agents, the main control panel transmits a signal to the Building Management System to enact a series of customer-derived building shutdown protocols. The Technology includes the Building Sentry One system, which is intended for deployment in large office buildings (> 200,000 square feet), and the Alpha Sentry One system, which is intended for deployment in lobbies or small office buildings (< 200,000 square feet). In addition to hardware and proprietary software, the Technology includes: pre-engineering studies and building site visits; the installation, testing, monitoring, servicing, and maintenance of the Technology; and training of those performing installation services.


Verint Systems, Inc.

Verint Systems, Inc. provides Nextiva Enterprise Class Video Management Platform. The Technology is an IP Video Management Software that simplifies management of large volumes of video and geographically dispersed video surveillance operations. It can simultaneously record video, display incoming live video, play back recorded video, obtain audio, use motion detection, and transfer video and alarm data to long-term storage devices. The Technology includes training materials, user manuals, and the use of third-party system integrators to perform installation and support services.


The Boeing Company

Approved: May 09, 2013 | Expires: May 31, 2018

The Boeing Company ("Boeing") provides aviation security services for Boeing’s commercial aircraft deliveries destined to U.S. sterile terminals under a Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”)-approved Boeing Security Program (“BSP”) (the "Technology"). The Technology consists of: personnel screening and training; passenger and cargo screening processes, equipment, materials, software and data; and subscription services.


Qylur Security Systems, Inc.

Approved: April 23, 2013 | Expires: May 31, 2016

Qylur Security Systems, Inc., a Delaware corporation, provides the Qylur Security Kiosk. The Technology is a security screening kiosk that provides for the simultaneous screening of five individual parcels for a variety of threat items including explosives, knives, guns, and radioactive materials. The Technology also includes the methods for remote viewing of images, installation, training, and maintenance of the Technology.


Raytheon Co. and Raytheon UTD

Approved: April 19, 2013 | Expires: April 30, 2018

Raytheon Company provides Vulnerability Assessments and Mitigation Services. The Technology provides vulnerability and threat assessments, security planning services, and technical assistance primarily to the Department of Defense (“DOD”), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (“DTRA”), and emergency management training for the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”). The Technology also includes all technical manuals and the selection, hiring, training, and qualifications of the personnel used to perform these services.
