Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

The Boeing Company: Enhanced Security Flight Deck Door Technologies (ESFDD)

The Boeing Company provides Enhanced Security Flight Deck Door Technologies (the "Technology"). The Technology is specialized flight deck doors and other features designed to protect the flight crew and certain flight critical equipment on commercial aircraft. The Technology also includes services such as design, manufacturing, installation, and retrofitting as well as training and maintenance.


American Science and Engineering, Inc. : X-Ray Inspection Systems

Approved: July 08, 2008 | Expires: March 31, 2012

American Science and Engineering, Inc. provides X-Ray Inspection Systems. The Technology is a set of devices that utilize the same core principles to inspect objects for possible terrorist threats. There are two major lines of devices: the ParcelSearch systems, which are used to scan packages and the mobile systems which, are used to scan cargo and vehicles. The Technology also includes: installation, maintenance, training, warranty, spare parts, technical documentation, and all qualified personnel.


Protex Technologies, Inc.: Explosafe® Suppression System

Approved: June 20, 2008 | Expires: July 31, 2013

Protex Technologies, Inc. provides the Explosafe® Suppression System. The Technology is an aluminum mesh designed to be installed in fuel tanks or enclosed containers of flammable liquids or gases. Should one of these containers come under attack via explosives, ballistic projectiles, or low energy threats such as gunfire and electrical discharge, the Technology would prevent or reduce the effects of the explosion of such containers.


Sealock Security Systems, Inc.: Sealock Hybrid Devices

Sealock Security Systems, Inc. provides the Sealock Hybrid Devices. The Technology is a device that provides both the function of seal and lock for cargo containers. With the Technology in place on the cargo container’s door mechanism, any tampering with the mechanism will be noticeable upon inspection. There are three models: Single Use Sealock, Keeper Sealock, and Sealock Junior. All three are C-TPAT compliant.


Building Protection Systems, Inc.: Building Sentry One System

Building Protection Systems, Inc. (BPSI) provides the Building Sentry One System. The Technology is a full backbone system that integrates BPSI's as well as third-party chemical and radiological sensors along with other hardware devices to create Chemical Sensor Arrays (CSAs) and Radiation Area Detectors (RADs). These CSAs and RADs are connected to Building Sentry One main brain panel while interfacing with the existing Building Management System in order to fully monitor the building air for the presence of chemical or radiological threats and to enact a series of building specific shutdown protocols to eliminate the spread of these threats to building inhabitants. The Technology consists of services such as site engineering & vulnerability assessment visits, installation, testing, monitoring, maintenance and installation training in addition to the hardware and software of the devices.


L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc.: eXaminer System

L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. provides the eXaminer System. The Technology is a system that uses a high-speed computed tomography scanner to image parcels. This makes it possible for parcels to be inspected for explosives and other hazardous materials in a continuous manner. When a potential threat is spotted, the Technology alerts the operator, and the operator for ultimate determination as to whether or not the threat is real. The Technology consists of a variety of hardware, software, and services including but not limited to several models of the detection system, image analysis system, and integration services.


U.S. Security Associates, Inc.: U.S. Security Associates Security Services

U.S. Security Associates, Inc., provides U.S. Security Associates Security Services. The Technology provides trained security personnel to protect personnel and property at commercial and Government nuclear reservations, Government agencies and installations, and high-risk commercial entities, some of which are designated as U.S.


Honeywell International, Inc., dba Vindicator Technologies: V5 Intrusion Detection and Access Control Systems

Honeywell International, Inc., dba Vindicator Technologies provides the V5 Intrusion Detection and Access Control Systems. The Technology is a system of devices that provides for remote monitoring of security cameras, access control stations, and intrusion detection sensors. It is highly configurable and can deployed in a manner that fits the customer’s specific needs and desires.


Innovative American Technology, Inc.: Radiation Threat Identification System (RTIS)/Spreader Bar Radiation Verification System (SBRVS)

Innovative American Technology, Inc. provides the Radiation Threat Identification System (RTIS)/Spreader Bar Radiation Verification System (SBRVS). The Technology is a system designed to scan cargo and detect gamma, neutron, and X-ray radiation. The SBRVS is a special variant of the RTIS constructed for mounting specifically on a spreader bar gantry.


G&T Conveyor Company, Inc. and Elite Line Services, Inc.: Baggage Screening Systems and Services

Approved: April 17, 2008 | Expires: May 31, 2013

G&T Conveyor Company, Inc. and Elite Line Services, Inc. provide Baggage Screening Systems and Services. The Technology is a set of systems and services designed to identify, divert, and capture suspicious bags. The systems employ TSA provided Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), and the services cover a wide range of functions including: technical design, development of computer control software, testing and commissioning of systems, and maintenance among other things.
