Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Unisys Corporation: Multi-Threat Risk Analysis and Physical Perimeter Protection System for the Federal Secure Border Initiative Network (“SBInet”) Program

Unisys Corporation provides the Muli-Threat Risk Analysis and Physical Perimeter Protection System for the Federal Secure Border Initiative Network (“SBInet”) program. The Technology is provided specifically to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for the P28 section of the U.S.-Mexico border. It is a secure information technology system for data transmission between the central P28 Command, Control, and Communication (C3) center, mobile C3 systems, mobile and stationary towers, and CBP agent vehicles. It consists of design, implementation, integration, installation, and maintenance services for the SBInet Common Operating Picture (COP).


Atlantic CommTech Corporation: Security Design and Installation Services

Atlantic CommTech Corporation provides Security Design and Installation Services. The Technology is provided to the agencies of the U.S. Government and includes design, engineering, installation, and support of integrated electronic security systems. These can be: Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access/Entry Control Systems (A/ECS), Closed-Circuit Television Systems (CCTV), and others. The Technology is developed and selected based on client established requirements and system needs. It contains commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items that are client approved and validated. The Technology also includes all trained technicians, specifications, training, training manuals, and technical manuals.


SimplexGrinnell L.P.: Security, Fire, and Life Safety Systems Integration Services

SimplexGrinell L.P. provides Security, Fire, and Life Safety Systems Integration Services. The Technology is a set of services pertaining to several systems meant to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security and life safety threats. These systems include: fire alarm and detection systems, fire suppression systems, closed caption television (CCTV), and mass notification systems. The services include but are not limited to: project management, site survey and needs assessment, and systems integration services. Hiring and training of the personnel who perform the services, training of the customer, and all related documentation is also included in the Technology.


Cotecna Inspection S.A.: Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) Inspection Services

Cotecna Inspection S.A. provides Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) Inspection Services. The Technology is a set of services used to check cargo containers being transported by land, air, or sea for the presence of several substances associated with explosives. Among the services are: customer requirements analysis, selection and procurement of third-party ETD devices, and performance of the physical inspection. The qualifications of the personnel carrying out the services, selection processes, training of Cotecna’s personnel, reports and recommendations, quality control and auditing procedures, and all relevant documentation are also included as part of the Technology.


Lauren Innovations, LLC: NaviGate™

Lauren Innovations, LLC provides NaviGate™. The Technology is a Web-based crisis management portal application for preventing, identifying, and deterring Acts of Terrorism. It can also limit the harm from such acts in a school campus environment. It consists of on-line computer software tools for use by school personnel and first responders. It also includes consulting services to support implementation and review of emergency operations plans.


Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC): Radiation Portal Monitor System (AT-980 System)

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) provides the Radiation Portal Monitor System (AT-980 System). The Technology is a device that uses gamma-ray and neutron detection modules to passively monitor closed, moving vehicles, containers, and/or railcars for the presence of radioactive materials. In particular, it can be used to detect the presence of special nuclear material (SNM) and radiological dispersal devices (RDDs). The Technology also includes warranty and maintenance services, installation and operation services, and the qualification of the personnel providing the Technology.


Vigilant Solutions, LLC: Preferred Traveler Program

Vigilant Solutions, LLC provides the Preferred Traveler Program. The Technology is a biometrically-secure identification and access system that includes hardware and software as well as personal enrollment verification services. Depending on customer needs, it will be composed of some combination of the following: enrollment services, verification, smart card and processing, data management, checkpoint kiosks and traveler identification, and Registered Traveler support services.


Applied Science International, LLC: Extreme Loading® for Structures

Applied Science International, LLC (ASI) provides Extreme Loading® for Structures (ELS) an Applied Element Method-based software tool for modeling structures, and analyzing and visually simulating the response of said structures to man-made and natural disasters. The Technology can be applied to a wide variety of structures, including bridges, towers, and sports arenas; a broad range of building materials; and different phases of structural design – from pre-construction, to remodeling, to demolition. In addition, the Applied Element Method allows for multiple types of threat scenarios to be modeled, analyzed, and simulated, thereby demonstrating to decision makers structural vulnerabilities and options to be considered for risk mitigation. Included in the Technology are training in use of the software and consulting services regarding use and implementation of the Technology software.


Priva Technologies, Inc.: Priva Security System

Priva Technologies, Inc. provides the Priva Security System. The Technology is a biometric-based system designed to secure access to sensitive areas. It includes several components: the ClearedChip, ClearedKey, ClearedBadge, ClearedReader, and ClearedHost. The Technology includes the installation of the stand-alone technology or the integration of the Technology as part of an existing system. User training, system maintenance, warranties, and other relevant documentation are also included.


Smiths Detection, Inc.: HI-SCAN 6040aTiX

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides the HI-SCAN 6040aTiX. The Technology is an X-ray inspection and detection unit which provides automated detection capability for the inspection and screening of carry-on baggage. It can also be used to provide building access security and mail screening for important facilities where a large number of items must be screened quickly and efficiently.
