Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. The Technology is processes and procedures for the production of an integrated system intended for deployment at ports to enhance overall security with regard to nuclear- and/or radioactive material-related threats. The Technology consists of four main elements: process management and design services; selection of commercially available security equipment; communications infrastructure integration; and proprietary control software. The Technology is a product line of X-ray-based scanners used primarily for screening baggage and cargo to be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology provides high resolution images to the operator, who is then responsible for interpreting the image and determining whether a threat item exists. The Technology includes the HI-SCAN 10080 Explosives Detection Systems models EDX, EDtS, and EDtS++. Included in the Technology are installation, maintenance, and training services and the related technical documents and manuals.
Top Eye View, Inc. Approved: December 17, 2009 \| Expires: August 31, 2014 Top Eye View, Inc. provides the BLN-III “Eye in the Sky”. The Technology is an unmanned tethered blimp designed to operate at low altitudes and provide aerial surveillance. It is equipped with cameras possessing pan, zoom, and tilt capabilities as well as the ability to transmit images and video feed to specified operation centers.

The Technology is a framework by which anti-terrorism operatives collect, catalogue, link images, and share information relating to explosive incidents. The Technology also includes all technical manuals, warranty and maintenance services, and training services, as well as the qualifications of the personnel used for these services.
Universal Protection Service Approved: December 09, 2009 \| Expires: December 31, 2015 Protection Service provides Security and Guard Services. The Technology is physical security services for commercial buildings designed to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security threats. The Technology also includes unarmed security officers, fire/life safety, security assessments, security training, and emergency preparedness services and the recruitment, vetting, hiring, and training of its Personnel which perform these services.

The Technology consists of those NFPA developed standards and codes which have an association with preventing, detecting, identifying, or deterring Acts of Terrorism or limiting the damage such attacks might cause as adopted by the Department of Homeland Security. The NFPA is accredited as a Standards Development Organization (SDO) by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Smiths Detection, Inc. Approved: November 04, 2009 \| Expires: November 30, 2012 Smiths Detection, Inc., provides the Bio-Seeq® PLUS PCR Bio-Identifier. The Technology is a portable biological agent identification instrument used to screen suspicious powders for bacterial and viral biological warfare agents. The Technology uses LATE-PCR (Linear After The Exponential-Polymerase Chain Reaction) to replicate a specific genomic region from a target bacterial or viral agent and attaches a fluorophore to the newly replicated genetic material to allow for detection. The Technology can perform up to six distinct assays simultaneously. Included in the Technology are single-use assay cartridges for performing assays as well as operator training, training materials, maintenance services, technical documents and manuals, and a warranty.
