Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

American Science and Engineering, Inc.

Approved: July 22, 2010 | Expires: July 13, 2013

American Science and Engineering, Inc. provides OmniView Gantry. The Technology is a high-energy X-ray system that identifies threat items in cargo containers. The Technology may optionally include the integration of a third-party radiation detector. For this optional component, the Seller provides only integration services. The Technology otherwise includes the following: 1) site survey and installation services; 2) operator training (including equipment use training and image analysis training); 3) warranty and preventative maintenance services; 4) the trained personnel who provide all technical, maintenance, and training services; and, 5) all technical documentation.


Alclear, LLC

Approved: June 25, 2010 | Expires: June 30, 2010

Alclear, LLC provides Verified Identity Pass ("Verified ID"), which is a voluntary, biometrically secured, identification and access system.


Raytheon Company and Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC

Approved: June 11, 2010 | Expires: June 30, 2015

Raytheon Company and Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC provide Mail Processing and Screening Services. The Technology is an integrated set of services, equipment, and personnel designed to counter and guard against exploitation of mail systems to perpetrate an attack. The Technology is customizable and includes the following elements: planning, engineering, development, equipment, personnel, operations, and maintenance. It is deployed at specified National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) installations in accordance with contract requirements.


Geo-Trans Int'l Inc.

Approved: June 07, 2010 | Expires: July 31, 2015

Geo-Trans Int'l Inc. d/b/a Boston Freight Terminals, Inc. provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities. The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, are secure facilities established in accordance with directives issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the screening and securing of cargo which will be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology includes, in accordance with TSA directives, maintaining a security plan that limits access to secure cargo screening areas, training and vetting employees in accordance with TSA guidance, adherence to all TSA-specified chain of custody rules for this cargo, and use of TSA-approved methods and/or equipment for the screening of cargo. The Technology is limited to only those locations in possession of current TSA certifications for cargo screening facilities.


ShotSpotter, Inc.

Approved: June 07, 2010 | Expires: July 31, 2015

ShotSpotter, Inc. provides ShotSpotter Gunshot Location System (GLS). The Technology is an acoustic detection system which uses acoustic sensors to detect and triangulate impulsive sounds. The Technology also includes warranty maintenance services, training, extended maintenances services, and installation and calibration.


The Boeing Company

Approved: June 04, 2010 | Expires: June 30, 2013

The Boeing Company provides HazNet. The Technology is a fully integrated end-to-end operational system, designed to support emergency management organizations and to homeland security and law enforcement entities. The Technology also includes the provision of all technical documentation, including requirements, design, configuration, interface controls, testing, operation, training, maintenance, and warranties. Operational support services are also offered as part of the Technology.


ICx Technologies, Inc.

Approved: May 26, 2010 | Expires: June 30, 2015

ICx Technologies, Inc. provides the IBAC (Instantaneous Biological Analyzer and Collector. The Technology is a continuously operating aerosol sensor that uses the elastic scattering and auto-fluorescence properties of particles to allow for the detection of various biological warfare agents. The Technology is best used as part of a nested biodefense system, with a pre-determined concept of operations. It includes some limited training services.


MobilVox, Inc.

Approved: May 26, 2010 | Expires: May 31, 2013

MobilVox, Inc. provides Diver Situational Awareness System (DSAS). The Technology is a computer software system used by public safety explosives ordnance disposal (EOD) divers, supervisors, and maritime security command and control personnel to execute hazardous missions more efficiently, effectively, and safely while performing, commanding, and overseeing the search and removal of hazardous terrorist-planted underwater improvised explosive devices and mine countermeasure operations and training.


Siemens Government Services, Inc.

Approved: May 17, 2010 | Expires: May 31, 2015

Siemens Government Services, Inc., provides Maintenance and Repair Services. The Technology consists of maintenance, repair, and technical support services provided to ensure that screening equipment, such as that deployed at airports and other high–security buildings, is available for threat detection and functions properly. Supported screening systems include Explosive Trace Detectors, cabinet X–ray–based systems, Enhanced Metal Detectors, Explosives Detection Systems, and Advanced Spectroscopic Portals. Elements of the Technology include: field and preventive maintenance–performed in strict conformance with manufacturer and customer requirements–and support services for screening systems; service provider training; and technical documents and manuals.


Swissport Cargo Services, Inc.
