Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Approved: July 28, 2016 | Expires: August 31, 2021

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Metal Detection Systems (the “Technology”). The Technology is a line of non-intrusive metal detection systems that can be used to screen for weapons and explosives with metal components. The software to provide networked operations is included in the Technology as well as: installation, integration, maintenance, training, a warranty, personnel qualifications, and all technical manuals.


G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc.

Approved: July 22, 2016 | Expires: July 31, 2021

G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. provides Physical Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology represents the provision of armed and unarmed security personnel at commercial, government, and government-related facilities, excluding nuclear facilities and/or those facilities operating under license to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The Technology also includes the qualification and training of personnel who conduct these services pursuant to G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc.’s training, and all related manuals and technical documentation.


Hach Company

Approved: July 22, 2016 | Expires: July 31, 2021

Hach Company provides the Hach GuardianBlue™ Early Warning System (the “Technology”). The Technology is a system of sensors used to monitor high volumes of drinking water and alert operators to early signs of potential contamination. The Technology also includes site assessments, site preparation, installation, manuals, operator training, and service and maintenance programs.


Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. and Honeywell International Inc.

Approved: July 22, 2016 | Expires: July 31, 2021

Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. and Honeywell International Inc. provide Cyber Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of a suite of consulting services intended to assess and improve a client’s cybersecurity posture and support cyber event analysis and incident management. Designation coverage extends to contracts provided to the Federal Government and in accordance with Federal Government contract specifications. Certification coverage extends to contracts provided to the U.S. Department of Defense (“DoD”) for DoD or other Federal agency customers.


Garrett Electronics, Inc., d/b/a Garrett Metal Detectors

Approved: July 22, 2016 | Expires: August 31, 2021

Garrett Electronics, Inc., d/b/a Garrett Metal Detectors provides Walk-Through Metal Detectors (the “Technology”). The Technology is a line of walk-through metal detectors that use low frequency electromagnetic fields. Detections are made by measuring disturbances in those fields due to the presence of conductive metal. The Technology consists of three main subsystems: a detection unit (electronics), transmit and receive side panels, and auxiliary components. Technology-related user manuals are included. Designation coverage extends to the following models: CS-5000, MS-3500, MT-5500, and PD-6500i. Certification coverage extends to PD-6500i.


Securitas AB

Securitas AB, Securitas Holdings, Inc., Securitas Services, Inc., Securitas Electronic Security, Inc., and Securitas Electronic Government Security, Inc., provide Electronic Security Service (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of design, engineering, installation, service, monitoring and maintenance services for electronic security systems. The Technology also includes manuals, training and support services.


Rapiscan Security Products (U.S.A.), Inc.

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides Baggage and Parcel Inspection Systems (“BPI” or the “Technology”). The Technology is non-intrusive X-ray devices using ionizing radiation, software, and hardware to create a display for an operator of a density-based picture that outlines shapes and material types contained in baggage, parcels, or other containers. This Technology is designed to be effective against conventional explosives or incendiary weapons to include improvised explosives. Also included in the Technology are associated products and services such as: operation and maintenance training; system installation and integration; preventative maintenance; warranty and maintenance services; spare parts; personnel qualifications; technical manuals; image interpretation aids; system removal; peripherals; and software and hardware upgrades.


Safran USA, Inc., Morpho Detection, LLC, and Morpho Detection International, LL

Approved: June 21, 2016 | Expires: June 30, 2021

Safran USA, Inc., Morpho Detection, LLC, and Morpho Detection International, LLC provide the Itemiser®2, Itemiser®3, and Itemiser® DX (the “Technology”), which are portable, lightweight, desktop trace detectors that enable the detection of microscopic particles of a broad range of explosives that remain on clothing, luggage, ID cards, or any other targeted surface in which explosives might be handled. The Technology is deployed as stand-alone units. Included in the Technology are: the desktop detector unit, consumables and accessories, and User Manuals.


Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc. and Leidos, Inc.

Approved: June 06, 2016 | Expires: June 30, 2021

Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc. and Leidos, Inc. provide the CT-80, CT-80DR, and CT-80DR+ Explosives Detection Systems (“EDSs” or the “Technology”). The Technology is used to screen items, such as checked airline baggage, for the presence of explosives. It is based on compact, dual-energy computed tomography. Additionally, algorithms used in the Technology software reconstruct an item's contents and analyze the contents for the presence of explosives in an automated manner. SAFETY Act protections apply to models of the Technology that the U.S. Transportation Security Administration has certified as EDSs.


Aviall, Inc.

Approved: June 02, 2016 | Expires: May 31, 2021

Aviall, Inc. provides Tier 3 Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is the provision of services for the securing of cargo from importers who exceed the Tier 3 minimum security requirements promulgated by Customs and Border Protections’ Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism Program. The Technology includes the implementation of policies, procedures, training, and a risk management framework to secure the goods of the supply chain being imported into the United States.
