Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

St. Louis Cardinals

Approved: May 31, 2023 | Expires: May 31, 2028

The St. Louis Cardinals, LLC, SLC Holdings, LLC, St. Louis Cardinals Community Fund d/b/a Cardinals Care, Cardinals Ballpark, LLC, and Ballpark Site Holdings, Inc. provide the Busch Stadium Security Program. The Technology is a comprehensive security program comprised of physical and electronic security equipment, tools, emergency planning processes and procedures, and properly trained personnel.


The Boeing Company

Approved: May 30, 2023 | Expires: May 31, 2028

The Boeing Company provides Enhanced Security Flight Deck Door Technologies (the "Technology"). The Technology is specialized flight deck doors and other features designed to protect the flight crew and certain flight critical equipment on commercial aircraft. The Technology also includes services such as design, manufacturing, installation, and retrofitting as well as training and maintenance.


BOS Security, Inc.

Approved: May 26, 2023 | Expires: November 30, 2028

B O S Security, Inc., provides Screening Partnership Program (SPP) Services, Airport Passenger and Baggage Screening Services. The Technology is provided under the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA’s) Screening Partnership Program (SPP). It consists of trained and certified personnel who conduct passenger, airport employee, and baggage screening in accordance with TSA guidelines and standard operating procedures.


CEIA USA, Ltd.

Approved: May 24, 2023 | Expires: May 31, 2028

CEIA USA, Ltd., provides Metal Detectors. The Technology is a series of walk-through metal detectors and handheld metal detectors (the Technology). The Technology uses weak continuous wave electromagnetic fields to detect potential metallic threat objects. The walk-through metal detectors are used to screen for weapons and other metallic threat items contained, for example, on or in a person’s body. The handheld metal detectors are used to screen for weapons on a person’s body. Included in the Technology are installation services, site acceptance testing, maintenance, user training, and related technical documentation.


Ilitch Holdings Inc.

Approved: May 05, 2023 | Expires: May 31, 2028

Ilitch Holdings, Inc., et al provide the Security Design for Little Caesars Arena/Detroit Events Center (the "Technology"). The Technology is the design and construction methodology for the Little Caesars Arena/Detroit Events Center (LCA/DEC) located at 2645 Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. The Technology applies exclusively to the LCA/DEC and the 100-foot perimeter around the arena, the parking deck, Buildings A, B, and C, the Via, and the Piazza. It includes the security design development process, supporting policies and procedures, and the implementation, management, and continuous oversight of the Technology by the Applicant’s employees, contractors, and consultants.


ADT Security Services, Inc.

Approved: April 04, 2023 | Expires: April 30, 2028

Johnson Controls Security Solutions LLC, Johnson Controls International plc, and Tyco Integrated Fire & Security Canada, Inc. provide Electronic Security Services. The Technology consists of assessment, design, installation, operations, or maintenance services to integrate security systems used to secure public and private facilities and infrastructure and is tailored to customer needs.


K2 Solutions, Inc.

Approved: March 31, 2023 | Expires: April 30, 2028

K2 Solutions, Inc., provides Single-Purpose Explosive Detection Canine Teams. The Technology is the use of proprietary explosive detection canine teams to locate explosive material or devices in stationary positions, such as unattended bags, trashcans, planters, cargo, vehicles, etc. Teams are deployed to Government and commercial facilities, including arenas, stadiums, amphitheaters, theme parks, airports, and high-profile events. The Technology also includes hiring and vetting of personnel, and policies and procedures used for its deployment.


Astrophysics Inc

Approved: March 31, 2023 | Expires: March 31, 2028

March 31, 2023 - Astrophysics Inc. provides Conventional X-Ray Inspection Systems (the "Technology"). The Technology is a product line of X-ray-based inspection equipment used to non-invasively screen baggage, parcels, mail, personal items, and cargo for the potential presence of threat objects or substances. The Technology uses X-ray beams and detectors, together with image processing software, to provide the operator with detailed images of the item being inspected. Interpretation of the image is, however, the responsibility of the operator. The Technology also includes installation, maintenance, and operator training, as well as related manuals and training materials.


American Petroleum Institute

Approved: March 26, 2023 | Expires: April 30, 2028

The American Petroleum Institute (API) publishes the API Standard 1164 – Pipeline Control Systems Cybersecurity (Third Edition, August 2021) (the Technology). The Technology provides requirements and guidance for managing cyber risk associated with industrial automation and control environments as operated in the oil and natural gas pipeline industry.


Vertex Company

Approved: March 08, 2023 | Expires: February 28, 2027

Vertex Aerospace LLC, provides Security Equipment Integration Services. The Technology is a set of services used for the installation and integration of security equipment applications at airport and transportation facilities for detection of explosives and other prohibited items.
