Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

General Electric Company, GE Infrastructure, Inc., GE Security, Inc., and GE InVision, Inc.: CTX™

Approved: November 17, 2005 | Expires: November 30, 2010

General Electric Company, GE Infrastructure, Inc., GE Security, Inc., and GE InVision, Inc., all provide CTX™ explosive detection systems (EDS) — the CTX 9000 DSi™, CTX 5500 DS™, and CTX 2500™ — which aid in the detection of explosives in baggage using two types of x-ray images, computed tomography (CT), and proprietary software algorithms.


The Boeing Company: Visual Security Operations Console (VSOC) Sentinel

The Boeing Company provide’s the Visual Security Operations Console (VSOC) Sentinel, a situational awareness system that enables interoperability of multiple security applications providing key decision makers and first responders an open, secure platform for collaborative decision making to interdict or mitigate the effects of a terrorist attack.


BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration, Inc.: Matador™ Infrared Countermeasure (IRCM) System

Approved: November 10, 2005 | Expires: November 30, 2010

BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration, Inc. provides the Matador™ Infrared Countermeasure System which are are lamp-based infrared countermeasure missile-jamming systems that can be deployed on fixed-wing aircraft to defeat Generation 1 infrared  guided (i.e., heat-seeking) missiles.


General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, Inc.,: Joint Biological Point Detection System

Approved: October 21, 2005 | Expires: September 30, 2010

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, Inc’s Joint Biological Point Detection System automatically detects, collects, and identifies up to 10 different customer selected biological weapon agents at a time and notifies the operator of its findings. The number and types of biological weapon agents that it detects at any given time can be modified by the customer to accommodate changing intelligence information.

Escape Rescue Systems, Ltd provides an escape system for the safe external evacuation of high-rise building occupants and quick transport of fire and rescue personnel to higher floors.


Accenture LLP: Biometric Identification Systems Project (IDENT) Support Services

Approved: October 04, 2005 | Expires: September 30, 2010

Accenture LLP provides support services for US-VISIT Biometric Identification Systems Project (IDENT).  IDENT is a computer network that screens and validates, using biometric screening techniques, the identity of persons entering or leaving the United States.
