Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

The National Biometric Security Project provides the Biometric Testing and Evaluation Process (BTEP), a method of testing biometric identification products and a listing that declares the suitability of those products for homeland and conventional security applications. The Technology is designed to certify that biometric identification products meet a variety of industry best standards.


Previstar, Inc.: RAMSAFE™/PREVISTAR CPS™

Previstar, Inc., provides RAMSAFE™/PREVISTAR CPS™, an incident command system software solution for disaster management designed for the public safety community. The Technology is compliant with the concepts of the Department of Homeland Security’s National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).


Gold Type Business Machines, Inc.: Info-Force

Approved: March 06, 2007 | Expires: December 31, 2011

Gold Type Business Machines, Inc. provides Info-Force. The Technology consists of two specialized software applications. The first, Info-CopTM provides first responders with secure, efficient, messaging, chat, resource status, controlled Web access, and GPS information, as well as authorized access to real-time information from Federal, state, and locally maintained and controlled databases. The second application enables non-law enforcement public-private users to connect to Info-CopTM servers. Depending on the industry to which it is deployed, this software is called either Info-PassTM or Info-CorpTM.

Insitu Group, Inc.: A20 Unmanned Aerial System (ScanEagle™)

The Insitu Group, Inc., provides the A20 Unmanned Aerial System (ScanEagle™), an autonomous aerial vehicle system designed to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data.


MadahCom, Inc.: Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System (WAVES)

MadahCom, Inc., provides a fixed Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System (WAVES) and a portable Tactical WAVES (TACWAVES) (collectively, WAVES). WAVES provides mass notification to alert, warn and inform people of actions to take in the event of a terrorist attack.

VeriTainer Corporation, Inc., provides the VeriSpreader, a crane-mounted radiation scanning device.


Harbor Offshore, Inc.: Port Security Barrier

Harbor Offshore, Inc., provides the Port Security Barrier (PSB) models 500, 600, and 5500. The PSB is a seaborne barrier system that provides physical protection against high-speed boat attack.


GE Security: ShoeScanner

GE Security provides the ShoeScanner, a threat detection system that uses quadrupole resonance and inductive methods to detect explosive material and metal objects hidden in footwear.

American, Science & Engineering, Inc. (AS&E), provides a family of X-ray Inspection Systems that utilizes transmission and backscatter X-rays in different inspection settings to search parcels, cargo, pallets, vehicles and persons.
