Designations

For Designation as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology (QATT), a technology must demonstrate effectiveness during operational testing or through prior use. Designation provides limited liability for third-party claims arising out of the deployment of the QATT with respect to an "Act of Terrorism." The maximum liability is determined by DHS, and the Seller is required to maintain liability insurance at that level. Other protections include immunity from punitive damages. A full Designation normally lasts for 5 years and can be renewed. Any technology deployed during its period of Designation is protected for the lifetime of its deployment.

Applied Science International, LLC: Extreme Loading® for Structures

Approved: July 24, 2008 | Expires: August 31, 2013

Applied Science International, LLC (ASI) provides Extreme Loading® for Structures (ELS) an Applied Element Method-based software tool for modeling structures, and analyzing and visually simulating the response of said structures to man-made and natural disasters. The Technology can be applied to a wide variety of structures, including bridges, towers, and sports arenas; a broad range of building materials; and different phases of structural design – from pre-construction, to remodeling, to demolition. In addition, the Applied Element Method allows for multiple types of threat scenarios to be modeled, analyzed, and simulated, thereby demonstrating to decision makers structural vulnerabilities and options to be considered for risk mitigation. Included in the Technology are training in use of the software and consulting services regarding use and implementation of the Technology software.

Protex Technologies, Inc.: Explosafe® Suppression System

Approved: June 20, 2008 | Expires: July 31, 2013

Protex Technologies, Inc. provides the Explosafe® Suppression System. The Technology is an aluminum mesh designed to be installed in fuel tanks or enclosed containers of flammable liquids or gases. Should one of these containers come under attack via explosives, ballistic projectiles, or low energy threats such as gunfire and electrical discharge, the Technology would prevent or reduce the effects of the explosion of such containers.

Building Protection Systems, Inc.: Building Sentry One System

Approved: June 09, 2008 | Expires: June 30, 2013
