Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. The Technology is physical security services for commercial buildings designed to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security threats. The Technology also includes unarmed security officers, fire/life safety, security assessments, security training, and emergency preparedness services and the recruitment, vetting, hiring, and training of its Personnel which perform these services.

The Technology provides an integrated suite of safety and security products and services to the Department of Energy. The Technology also includes integration of products and services, written policies, procedures, training materials, manuals, and support materials.
B O S Security, Inc Approved: December 08, 2009 \| Expires: January 31, 2015 B O S Security, Inc provides Airline Passenger & Baggage Screening Services. The Technology provides trained and skilled personnel to operate screening equipment, conduct pre-board passenger screening, carry-on and checked luggage screening. The Technology also includes program management, personnel selection and training, and routine maintenance on screening equipment.
Virtual Emergency Services, LLC Approved: November 20, 2009 \| Expires: December 31, 2014 Virtual Emergency Services, LLC, provides RESPONSEnetTM. The Technology is a Web-based system that enables first responders and client personnel to securely access pre-determined tactical response plans and coordinate on-site Incident Command System activities to respond to emergency incidents. The Technology also includes total project management, data and imagery collection, data rendering and database population services, and training.
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): NFPA Codes and Standards Approved: November 10, 2009 \| Expires: November 30, 2014 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) provides the NFPA Codes and Standards. The Technology consists of those NFPA developed standards and codes which have an association with preventing, detecting, identifying, or deterring Acts of Terrorism or limiting the damage such attacks might cause as adopted by the Department of Homeland Security. The NFPA is accredited as a Standards Development Organization (SDO) by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Smiths Detection, Inc. Approved: November 04, 2009 \| Expires: November 30, 2012 Smiths Detection, Inc., provides the Bio-Seeq® PLUS PCR Bio-Identifier. The Technology is a portable biological agent identification instrument used to screen suspicious powders for bacterial and viral biological warfare agents. The Technology uses LATE-PCR (Linear After The Exponential-Polymerase Chain Reaction) to replicate a specific genomic region from a target bacterial or viral agent and attaches a fluorophore to the newly replicated genetic material to allow for detection. The Technology can perform up to six distinct assays simultaneously. Included in the Technology are single-use assay cartridges for performing assays as well as operator training, training materials, maintenance services, technical documents and manuals, and a warranty.

The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, are secure facilities established in accordance with directives issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the screening and securing of cargo which will be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology includes, in accordance with TSA directives, maintaining a security plan that limits access to secure cargo screening areas, training and vetting employees in accordance with TSA guidance, adherence to all TSA-specified chain of custody rules for this cargo, and use of TSA-approved methods and/or equipment for the screening of cargo. The Technology is limited to only those locations in possession of current TSA certifications for cargo screening facilities.
