Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Electrolytic Technologies Corporation provides Klorigen™. The Technology is a modular chemical process system for the continuous, on-site production of Chlorine and Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach) at water treatment plant and chemical facilities. The Technology also includes System Operating and Maintenance Manual, site assessments (with computer-aided-design layout of the installation site), supervision of installation, field and acceptance testing (including standard system start-up and diagnostics procedures), training, and customizable service and warranty plans.


Limitless International, Inc.

Approved: February 01, 2010 | Expires: February 28, 2015

Limitless International, Inc. provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities. The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, are secure facilities established in accordance with directives issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the screening and securing of cargo which will be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology will include, in accordance with TSA directives, maintaining a security plan that limits access to secure cargo screening areas, training and vetting employees in accordance with TSA guidance, adherence to all TSA-specified chain of custody rules for this cargo, and use of TSA-approved methods and/or equipment for the screening of cargo. The Technology includes only those locations in possession of current TSA certifications for cargo screening facilities.


Lufthansa Cargo

Lufthansa Cargo provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities. Implant Sciences Corporation, provides the Quantum Sniffer™. The Technology is an explosive trace detection device that is able to detect minute quantities of explosives vapor and particulate matter. The Technology comes in two models. Both contain the same patented vortex technology.


Rapiscan Systems, Inc.

Approved: January 20, 2010 | Expires: February 28, 2015

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., provides MVXR5000. The Technology is a non-intrusive X-ray-based device used to screen parcels, cargo, and/or baggage for the potential presence of explosive threats. The Technology includes: installation, integration, and maintenance services (including preventative maintenance as well as out-of-warranty service and repairs); training regarding technical use of the Technology; the qualifications of the personnel used for providing Technology-related services; spare parts; image interpretation aids; additional software (including threat image projection (TIP)); network management systems; management information systems; operator workstations; operator and technical manuals; and a warranty.


Lockheed Martin, LLC

Lockheed Martin, LLC provides Gyrocam. The Technology is customizable, integrated optical surveillance systems used to survey an area for, and detect, potential threat items or people. The Technology can be deployed on fixed and mobile platforms, and can be used for land, airborne, or maritime applications. The Technology also includes are systems design and integration, installation, maintenance, and training.


American Royal Shipping

American Royal Shipping provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities. The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, are secure facilities established in accordance with directives issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the screening and securing of cargo which will be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology will include, in accordance with TSA directives, maintaining a security plan that limits access to secure cargo screening areas, training and vetting employees in accordance with TSA guidance, adherence to all TSA-specified chain of custody rules for this cargo, and use of TSA-approved methods and/or equipment for the screening of cargo. The Technology includes only those locations in possession of current TSA certifications for cargo screening facilities.


Detector Networks International, LLC

Approved: January 05, 2010 | Expires: February 28, 2013

Detector Networks International, LLC provides Radiation Detection Straddle Carrier. The Technology is a non-intrusive, mobile radiation scanning device used for screening linearly arranged shipping cargo containers, in stacks up to four high, for the potential presence of radiological threat substances. The Technology also includes the Technology integrates optical character recognition (OCR) cameras.


Siemens Nederland N.V.

Approved: December 31, 2009 | Expires: January 31, 2015

Siemens Nederland N.V. provides Systems Engineering and Integration Services for Nuclear Detection Systems. The Technology is processes and procedures for the production of an integrated system intended for deployment at ports to enhance overall security with regard to nuclear- and/or radioactive material-related threats. The Technology consists of four main elements: process management and design services; selection of commercially available security equipment; communications infrastructure integration; and proprietary control software. Implementation of the Technology provides for the screening of cargo; detection of intrusions, security risks, and breaches; and transmission of information to a central location via a communications infrastructure.


Smiths Detection, Inc.

Approved: December 23, 2009 | Expires: January 31, 2015

Smiths Detection, Inc., provides HI-SCAN 10080 Explosives Detection Systems. The Technology is a product line of X-ray-based scanners used primarily for screening baggage and cargo to be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology provides high resolution images to the operator, who is then responsible for interpreting the image and determining whether a threat item exists. The Technology includes the HI-SCAN 10080 Explosives Detection Systems models EDX, EDtS, and EDtS++. Included in the Technology are installation, maintenance, and training services and the related technical documents and manuals.
