Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

AECOM, AECOM Technical Services, Inc., AECOM USA, Inc., AECOM Services, Inc., URS Group, Inc., URS Corporation, URS Corporation – New York, URS Corporation – North Carolina, URS Corporation – Ohio, and URS Corporation Southern provide Threat and Vulnerability Assessment Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is threat and vulnerability assessment services including analyses of threats; modeling and analysis of threats to structures; prioritization of threats as a function of probability and magnitude of impact; defining mitigation strategies; developing security plans and guidelines, and security system designs; and other support services for security operations. The Technology also includes the preparation and delivery of manuals, technical documentation, and training materials.


Diebold, Incorporated

Approved: September 03, 2015 | Expires: September 30, 2020

Diebold, Incorporated provides Electronic Security Service (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of design, engineering, installation, service, monitoring and maintenance services for electronic security systems. The Technology also includes manuals, training and support services.


Akal Security, Inc.

Approved: August 25, 2015 | Expires: September 30, 2020

Akal Security, Inc. provides Private Screening Services as part of the Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”) Screening Partnership Program (“SPP” or the “Technology”). The Technology consists of trained and certified personnel who conduct passenger, airport employee, and baggage screening in accordance with TSA guidelines and standard operating procedures. The Technology also includes operation, training, and maintenance as related to airport screening equipment. Certification of the Technology is specific to deployment at the Kansas City International Airport (MCI).


Raytheon Company and Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC

Approved: August 25, 2015 | Expires: August 31, 2020

Raytheon Company and Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC provide Mail Processing and Screening Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is an integrated set of services, equipment, and personnel designed to counter and guard against exploitation of mail systems to perpetrate an attack. The Technology is customizable and includes the following elements: planning, engineering, development, equipment, personnel, operations, and maintenance. It is deployed at specified National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (“NGA”) installations in accordance with contract requirements.


Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. (“HTSI”) and Honeywell International Inc.

Approved: August 25, 2015 | Expires: August 31, 2020

Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. (“HTSI”) and Honeywell International Inc. provide Physical Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of the design, installation, and maintenance of physical security systems, including: intrusion detection systems, video surveillance systems, facility security barrier systems and gate operators, perimeter security and surveillance systems, wide area mass notification systems (e.g., Giant Voice), and cargo screening systems. The Technology is deployed for Federal Government users. The Technology also includes the selection of physical security system hardware and software, selection and oversight of subcontractors, and all technical manuals developed for use with the Technology.


National Basketball Association ("NBA")

Approved: August 25, 2015 | Expires: August 31, 2020

The National Basketball Association ("NBA") provides the NBA Arena Security Standards, NBA Security Audits, and NBA Security Training Programs (the "Technology"). The Technology is a comprehensive set of security standards for team and arena management designed to deter and defend against terrorist attacks at venues where NBA games are played, in addition to other general security risks. The Technology is implemented through the NBA Security Audits and NBA Security Training Programs, and includes the hiring, vetting, qualifications, and training of NBA security personnel in connection with the three components of the Technology.


Trans-Pak, Inc.

Approved: August 12, 2015 | Expires: September 30, 2020

Trans-Pak, Inc. provides a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (the “Technology”). The Technology is designed to aid in meeting the congressional mandate that 100 percent of cargo placed on passenger airplanes be screened. The Technology includes, and provides, screeners and programmatic personnel for the screening of cargo in accordance with the Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”)’s Certified Cargo Screening Program at TSA-approved Certified Cargo Screening Facilities.


IndustrySuite, LLC, dba Real-Time Technology Group

Approved: August 12, 2015 | Expires: August 31, 2020

IndustrySuite, LLC, dba Real-Time Technology Group provides Real-Time Verification™ (“RTV™” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a web-based Software-as-a-Service (“SaaS”) application for identity verification, background screening, credential management, and records management, to help users deter and prevent unverifiable or undesirable persons from gaining access to critical infrastructure sites. The Technology also includes training materials, technical support, and users’ guides and manuals.


American Science and Engineering, Inc. ("AS&E")

Approved: August 12, 2015 | Expires: August 31, 2018

American Science and Engineering, Inc. (“AS&E”) provides the Mini Z® (the “Technology”). The Technology is hand-held screening system, which uses X-rays to detect threats such as organic material, plastic guns, ceramic knives, and explosives. The Technology also includes a 2-day training course, technical documentation and manuals, and maintenance and warranty services.


American K-9 Detection Services, LLC

Approved: July 29, 2015 | Expires: August 31, 2016

American K-9 Detection Services, LLC, iK9 Holding Company, LLC d/b/a AMK9 Academy, and ITC Security Partners, Inc., which are all wholly owned subsidiaries of ITC Capital Partners, LLC, collectively provide Domestic Explosive Detection Dog Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is designed to enable the detection of explosives and explosive materials in different settings. The Technology consists of the provision of Explosive Detection Dog-Handler Teams (“EDDs”) for domestic deployments to the U.S. Federal Government.
