Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Approved: March 29, 2019 | Expires: April 30, 2024

The Boeing Company provides the e-Enabled Architecture (the "Technology"). The Technology includes secure networking capabilities that can be deployed in support of commercial aviation applications and operations.


The Boeing Company

Approved: August 14, 2018 | Expires: September 30, 2023

The Boeing Company provides Traffic Management Infrastructure Systems Security Services (the "Technology"). The Technology encompasses a range of services used to secure air traffic management infrastructure systems, including unmanned aerial systems, against unauthorized activities to support the safe and secure movement of goods and people. The Technology is provided in support of U.S. Government customers.

Approved: May 02, 2018 | Expires: May 31, 2023

The Boeing Company provides Enhanced Security Flight Deck Door Technologies (the "Technology"). The Technology is specialized flight deck doors and other features designed to protect the flight crew and certain flight critical equipment on commercial aircraft. The Technology also includes services such as design, manufacturing, installation, and retrofitting as well as training and maintenance.

Approved: May 02, 2018 | Expires: May 31, 2023

The Boeing Company and its subsidiaries, including Liquid Robotics, Inc. provide the Wave Glider (the "Technology"). The Technology is a wave and solar powered autonomous marine surface vehicle designed to serve as a water-based sensor or communications platform. The Technology also includes support services, software and communication support, storage and transport of components and equipment, all related documentation, and spare parts.

Approved: April 18, 2018 | Expires: May 31, 2023

The Boeing Company provides aviation security services for Boeing’s commercial aircraft deliveries destined to U.S. sterile terminals under a Transportation Security Administration ("TSA")-approved Boeing Security Program ("BSP") (the "Technology"). The Technology consists of: personnel screening and training; passenger and cargo screening processes, equipment, materials, software and data; and subscription services.

The Boeing Company provides Border Security Systems and Services (the "Technology"). The Technology comprises hardware, software, and services intended to aid personnel charged with securing borders, critical infrastructure, facilities, and sites by providing real time situational awareness and decision support capabilities. The Technology also includes data, materials, and subscription services.

Approved: September 18, 2017 | Expires: November 30, 2021

The Boeing Company and Boeing Intelligence & Analytics Inc. provides TAC Program (the "Technology"). The Technology is a data and knowledge management system designed to improve situational awareness and decision making regarding the handling of potential terrorist attacks. The Technology also includes site support services such as: project management, analytic support, and training.

The Boeing Company provides Explosives Detection Canine Services (the "Technology"). The Technology is Explosives Detection Canine-Handler Teams, Bomb Appraisal Officers, Canine Unit Trainers, and Explosives Detection Canine Training Services. The Technology also includes documentation, training materials and training aides, the policies and procedures for hiring and vetting of personnel, canine selection, and training of Explosives Detection Canine-Handler Teams.


Insitu Group, Inc.

Approved: July 10, 2017 | Expires: July 31, 2022

The Boeing Company, Insitu, Inc., and Insitu Pacific Limited provide the X-200 Unmanned Aerial System (a.k.a., X-200 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (“UAV”) System or the ScanEagle™) (the “Technology”). The Technology is an autonomous aerial reconnaissance and surveillance system that can be deployed from land or sea. The Technology also includes deployment, sustainment, maintenance, training, and several other repair and report services.

The Boeing Company provides its Risk Management Analysis Process (the “Technology”). The Technology is a service to the TSA in accordance with an Other Transaction Agreement. As part of this contract, Boeing supports TSA’s assessment of commercial aviation vulnerabilities and security risks. The Technology includes all associated data and information products (e.g., briefings, recordings, manuals, and databases) that are generated as a result of the implementation of the Technology either by Boeing alone or in collaboration with TSA and the Aviation – Risk Management Working Group.
